Partner Search Queries
When a visitor types a name, county, or other query into a sponsored search box, that submission goes to the third-party company operating the search service. Granville County Released Inmates does not keep a separate log of those query terms on its own systems. The receiving partner processes the query under its own privacy terms, which should be reviewed before using the tool.
Correspondence and Contact Details
An email or contact-form submission may contain a name, reply address, and any facts the sender chooses to include. We retain the message and contact details as needed to review it, respond, maintain a record of the exchange, or meet a legal duty. Correspondence is not shared outside the organization unless a lawful requirement or valid legal process calls for disclosure.
Data Generated During a Visit
Web servers, analytics tools, and advertising services may create technical logs when a Granville County record page loads. Depending on the service, those logs can include:
- The internet protocol address used for the visit.
- Browser type and version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when supplied.
- Date and time stamps for requests.
Cookies and Related Technology
Cookies and similar browser storage can remember basic preferences, measure movement between pages, and support advertising or search functions. Browser controls generally allow a visitor to delete or block cookies. Disabling them may change how a partner tool, advertisement, or other site feature operates.

Other Websites Set Their Rules
Outbound links may open Granville County government pages, the Sheriff’s detention resources, NCDAC or BOP services, court portals, and outside search tools. North Carolina public records are governed by laws such as Chapter 132, but each linked website separately controls the data it collects from visitors. Its privacy notice applies after the visitor leaves this domain.
Advertising providers may use cookies or other technology to recognize activity across multiple websites and choose or measure interest-based ads. That processing takes place through the provider’s systems and policy. It is distinct from the search-query handling described above.
Who May Handle Information
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may still reach the following parties when needed to provide a service, measure use, fund operations, or comply with law:
- A search partner selected through a sponsored tool, which receives the query submitted to it.
- Analytics services that process technical activity and usage measurements.
- Advertising networks that place, select, or measure advertisements.
- Law enforcement agencies or other public bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security Has Practical Limits
We apply reasonable administrative and technical measures to information under our control. Internet transmission and storage always carry risk. No website or network can guarantee perfect security, and we cannot promise that loss, interception, misuse, or unauthorized access will never occur. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive facts that are not needed for their message.
Use by People Under Eighteen
Granville County Released Inmates is meant for adults and is not directed to anyone younger than 18. We do not knowingly request or collect a minor’s personal data. A parent, guardian, or affected young person may report a submission through the Contacts page and ask us to review and delete information we control.
Requests About Personal Data
Rights vary by law and apply only to information we actually maintain. Subject to those limits, a visitor may ask us to:
- Describe or provide a copy of personal data maintained about that visitor.
- Correct inaccurate personal information under our control.
- Delete personal data when an applicable right permits deletion.
- Honor an available opt-out from a qualifying type of processing.
